Effective Date: March 23, 2026
Siddhanth Kumar ("we," "us," or "our") built the Zenly mobile application ("App") as a personal mood journal and emotion tracker. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that information.
All of the following data is stored exclusively on your device in a local SQLite database. It is never transmitted to us or any external server.
We do not collect:
All App data is stored in a local SQLite database file (zenly.db) within the App's private sandbox on your device. Photos are saved in a private directory within the App's document storage. Voice memos are stored as local audio files referenced by the database.
This data is:
We do not operate any servers, databases, APIs, or cloud infrastructure. The App functions entirely offline. There is no account system, no user authentication, and no mechanism for syncing data between devices.
The App integrates a limited number of third-party services. None of these services receive your mood data, journal entries, habits, notes, photos, or voice memos.
Purpose: To manage in-app subscriptions and verify purchase entitlements.
What RevenueCat receives:
What RevenueCat does NOT receive:
We do not create or provide any user account ID to RevenueCat. It operates on an anonymous, device-level basis.
RevenueCat Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple or Google through their respective storefronts. We do not receive or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). Apple and Google handle all payment processing and provide us only with transaction confirmation and subscription status.
The App is built using the Expo framework. The Expo SDK may collect minimal, anonymized diagnostic data as part of its standard operation (such as SDK version information). No User Content or personal data is transmitted to Expo.

We do not integrate any analytics platforms (such as Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar), advertising networks, crash reporting tools (such as Sentry, Bugsnag, or Crashlytics), or any other tracking services.
The App requests the following device permissions, each tied to a specific feature. All permissions are optional — you can deny any of them and continue using the rest of the App.
| Permission | Purpose | When Requested |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Capture photos to attach to mood entries | When you tap the photo option while creating an entry |
| Photo Library | Select existing photos to attach to mood entries | When you tap the photo option while creating an entry |
| Microphone | Record voice memos to attach to mood entries | When you tap the voice memo option while creating an entry |
| Notifications | Deliver locally scheduled reminders | During onboarding or when creating a reminder |
All notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. We do not use push notification servers. Background remote notifications are explicitly disabled.
You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's Settings app. Revoking a permission will disable its associated feature but will not affect the rest of the App.
You can export your data at any time using the in-app export feature. Exports are available in two formats:
Exported files are temporarily written to your device's cache directory and presented through your device's native share dialog. You choose where to send the file (email, cloud storage, messaging app, etc.). We do not receive a copy of your exported data.
Once shared, the exported file is subject to the privacy policies of whatever service or app you send it to.
Your data is retained on your device for as long as the App is installed. There is no automatic expiration or deletion of data.
You can delete individual mood entries within the App. Deleting an entry also removes any associated photo and voice memo files from your device.
The App provides a "Delete All Data" option in Settings. This permanently and irreversibly deletes all mood entries, habits, habit logs, reminders, photos, voice memos, and preferences from your device.
Uninstalling the App from your device permanently deletes all locally stored data, including the SQLite database and all associated media files. This action is irreversible. We cannot recover your data after deletion or uninstallation because we never had access to it in the first place.
We strongly recommend using the export feature to save a backup before deleting your data or uninstalling the App.
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App's onboarding includes an age range selection, but this information is stored locally and is not transmitted to us.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 is using the App, please note that all data is stored locally on the child's device. You can delete all data by using the "Delete All Data" option in the App's Settings or by uninstalling the App.
If you believe we have inadvertently received personal information from a child under 13, please contact us at siddhanth.email@gmail.com so we can take appropriate action.
Because Zenly is a local-first app with no data collection on our end, many traditional data rights are handled differently:
You have full, direct access to all of your data at all times through the App. You can export a complete copy of your data in CSV or JSON format using the in-app export feature.
You can delete any or all of your data at any time using the App's built-in deletion features, or by uninstalling the App.
You can edit or delete and re-create any entry to correct your data.
Because we do not collect, store, or have access to your personal data, we cannot fulfill data access, deletion, or portability requests — not because we refuse, but because we do not possess your data. Your data exists only on your device, and you have full control over it.
Regardless of where you live — including regions covered by the GDPR (EU/EEA), CCPA/CPRA (California), LGPD (Brazil), POPIA (South Africa), or other data protection laws — the practical outcome is the same: we do not collect your personal data, so there is nothing for us to disclose, delete, or restrict.
The only third party that receives any data from the App is RevenueCat (as described in Section 3.1), which operates on an anonymous device identifier basis. You can contact RevenueCat directly regarding data they may hold.
While we do not transmit or store your data externally, we take the following measures to protect your data on-device:
We recommend that you protect your device with a passcode or biometric lock to prevent unauthorized access to your journal entries.
Because all data is stored locally on your device and we do not operate servers, there are no international data transfers initiated by us. RevenueCat may process subscription data in the United States or other jurisdictions — please refer to RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
The App does not track you. We do not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because the App does not operate in a browser and does not engage in tracking of any kind.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. The updated policy will be accessible within the App and on our website.
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
